Doubletree By Hilton Bangkok Ploenchit

It was a great honor for our small studio to be invited to join the design team for the renovation of a 251-room hotel in the heart of Bangkok, transforming it into a DoubleTree by Hilton in collaboration with August Design Consultant, one of Thailand’s leading design firms.

Our role encompassed both design collaboration and project management from the initial concept through to the final design handover to the Owner and Operator. We also provided ongoing design consultation and guidance throughout the construction phase.

The design concept was inspired by the many layers of Bangkok as a capital city—both its physical form and the emotions it evokes. These elements were distilled into a cohesive design language that unfolds throughout every space, beginning from the moment guests step into the hotel.

At the lobby, a striking feature wall is created using rolled and layered newspaper paper, composed as an art installation. Gold-toned stainless steel lines add depth and dimension, symbolizing the map of Bangkok. The space then opens seamlessly into the dining area under an “Open” concept, inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of Thai street food culture.

The journey continues to the guestroom floors, where the elevator lobbies and corridors are designed with a warm and welcoming ambience, defined by continuous dark wood wall finishes leading to the guestroom entrances. Inside the rooms, the atmosphere shifts to a brighter and more refreshing tone within the relaxation zones. Concealed lighting is integrated into walls and ceilings, while decorative elements featuring contemporary Thai lines and patterns reinforce a distinct and memorable hotel identity.
